Hope! It has a really nice sound and conjures up wonderful
feelings inside of us. It can also be the one thing holding you back from your
true purpose in life. I have caught myself recently hoping for a certain
outcome of a situation. The hope turned into emotional turmoil! Every other
part of my life was positive and fulfilling, but I still let the hope for that
one thing hold me back. I did not realize the extent of that until yesterday. I
am not saying here that hope is a negative because it is not. I would just say
that maintaining a positive attitude is much more important. If you have
positive thoughts and actions there will be very little reason for hope to
enter the equation. When it comes to hoping someone else will change their mind
about something, feel a certain way, or change as a person you need to stop
yourself. If you find yourself feeling that way it means the person is bringing
negative energy into your life. If you don’t feel that negative energy you will
certainly feel it at some point! Drop the negative before it starts to take
over your emotions and actions! You can keep the hope just don’t keep the
person. We are each responsible for ourselves and maybe someday that little
hope you had will come to pass. Until then we need to worry about who we are as
people and what we want to become. The
best way to do this is to positively affirm what will happen in your life while
being thankful for what you already have in your life. Positive affirmation has
nothing to do with hope as it is a 100% belief that it will happen! Stop hoping
and start doing.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are
true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
thing are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good
report; if there be any virtue, and there be any praise, think on these things.
We need to distinguish between hope in what WE want and hope in what GOD wants for us. We will always be dissatisfied with our own selfish hopes, but when we are transformed, we can trust that God has a plan for us that is greater than what we hope for ourselves.
ReplyDeleteJeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans for welfare, and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will hear you.
1 Tim 4:10 - For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.
Hope in Christ secures our joy and our future.
Hope in selfish earthly desires leads to disappointment. I think it is a long process to get this one right, but as we are transformed by the Spirit, as we draw nearer to God, we can get closer to the point where our hopes for ourselves align with his hopes and plans for us.
That is the hope I was speaking of, the selfish hope that comes from our desires of the flesh1
ReplyDeleteI figured, just want to make sure you know that the right kind of hope is beautiful, as long as it is hope in the only thing worth hoping on, the Glory of God in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. Have a great week brother.
